What is Stuff?

Stuff is a database programmed using Microsoft Access 2000 that keeps track of your stuff.

How about some more details?

Stuff is based on two simple concepts: containers and items. Containers many contain other containers and/or items. Items are wholly inclusive objects and may not contain any other object.

How about a storyboard example?

Well, I have loads of stuff I'm not using at the moment (e.g., extension cords, cordless phones, speakers, software, old hardware, books) plus I hate to throw out boxes (i.e., original packaging material) that my stuff came in. I was having trouble organizing it all. Now, assume I have one of those HUGE computer monitor boxes, a book shelf, and I've loaned stuff out to other people. Plus, assume I have a bunch of empty boxes that would fit into the huge monitor box, a couple of software titles and books that would fit on the bookshelf, and my freeloading friend has borrowed my copy of Doom. I fire up Stuff (with a capital S) and go to add three containers, one called "Viewsonic Monitor Box", another called "Book Shelf", and another called "Lent Items". Now I go to add items and add all my software titles (including Doom) and books and assign those to the "Book Shelf" container. Then I remember that I lent out Doom, so I just pull up the record for Doom, and change the container assignment from "Book Shelf" to "Lent Items". Now I start to enter all the empty boxes that I'm gonna put inside that huge monitor box, but then I see that half of those empty boxes are very small boxes for my Pokemon toys. So I take all those Pokemon toy boxes and put them in one big Toys'R'Us bag. Then I add a container called "Toys'R'Us Bag" and assign that container to "Viewsonic Monitor Box". Now I add all the Pokemon toy boxes as items, mark them all empty, and assign these items to the "Toys'R'Us Bag" container. Then I enter all my other empty boxes as items and assign those to the "Viewsonic Monitor Box" container. Now I can have Stuff produce various useful reports.

How about mandatory screen shots?

What's that funny character at the end of some items in the Main View screen shot?

That character denotes that an item has its Empty flag checked.

What do I need to run Stuff?

Currently, you must own Microsoft Access 2000 to run Stuff. Later, I may provide a package that installs Stuff with the Microsoft Access 2000 Runtime so you don't need to own a copy of Access 2000. But remember, the Access 2000 Runtime will not allow you make any modifications to the database. Other versions (Access 2.0, 97, XP) will probably not run Stuff correctly.

Is any support available for Stuff?

Sorry, not at this time.

Is any documentation available for Stuff?

I laugh at you.

Great! Where can I download Stuff?

Feel free to e-mail mujty@yahoo.com with bug reports. Feature suggestions are also welcome, but don't expect new features any time soon. :) I am quite busy these days and it will probably take me some time to respond. If you really need support, you can try e-mailing me and if your issue seems simple, I'll try and help you out.
